ABOUT US

The West African Regional Research and Training Center on Low Vision and Rehabilitation (WARTCLOR) at UNILAG is established to reduce the burden of Low Vision at both National and Regional levels. The Centre is established to build capacity and develop a critical mass of Low Vision experts that will respond to the growing needs for Low Vision Services, Cutting-edge Research in the field of Low Vision, as well as improve access to Low Vision services and Promote local availability of assistive technologies through strong partnerships in education and research. The Centre is founded by a Strong multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on:  

  • Access to affordable and quality Low Vision care and rehabilitation.
  • Capacity building via development of skilled health professionals in Low Vision Care.
  • Adding novel knowledge to prevention and management of the burden of Low Vision through contemporary research.
  • Informing policy and practice of Low Vision rehabilitation through evidence-based recommendations
  • Development of infrastructure, platforms and programs for multi-disciplinary elements of vision rehabilitation service and research.
  • Overall improvement in quality of Low Vision Care for the population.
