DELEGATES FROM CARNEGIE MELON UNIVERSITY, CANADA, VISITS THE RESEARCH OFFICE

Delegates from the Carnegie Melon University visited the University of Lagos in July 2022. The objective of the visit was to drive collaboration for AFRETEC University Network – an inclusive digital transformation through engineering and technology. The AFRETEC Network creates a platform to drive inclusive digital growth by collaborating on education, knowledge creation, and entrepreneurship activities within the area of engineering and technology. It also seeks to develop and progress teaching and learning methodologies to prepare African engineering students with the skills and capabilities required for digital transformation.

Through the collaboration, it is expected that a research ecosystem which promotes collaboration and responds to continental, national and sector challenges and opportunities will be created. The University of Lagos is one of the 10 African member Universities identified as a potential collaborator to be part of the AFRETEC Network. Members will finalize and sign the Charter agreement with founding members as well as focus on activities to impact on the society. While at the University of Lagos, the team visited the International Partnerships and Prospects Office, the NITDA Centre, the Research Management Office, the Innovation and Technology Management Office, the Entrepreneurship Office in company of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor(Academics & Research), Prof. Bola Oboh, and the Research Team Lead for Robotics – Dr. Chika Yinka-Banjo.
