A Word from the Vice-Chancellor
University of Lagos is a prestigious and strategically located tertiary institution in Lagos State, which is the hub of commercial activities in West Africa. Given our trajectory in the educational space, I am excited to remark that my goal in the next five years is to leapfrog research and innovation to solve human and national challenges by ensuring that our ecosystem that comprises: teaching, research, innovation and collaboration with the industry and other stakeholders is effectively and efficiently galvanized for greater impact. Mindful of this goal, the guidance of the Research and Innovation Policy of the University will be operationalized in ensuring that we not only catch up with the demands of the 21st century but are also positioned for centuries to come. I will promote and support research and innovation activities toward the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); Science, Technology, Education and Mathematics (STEM) and other areas where UNILAG will make her footprints in human capital management to impact society and organizations.
Our students (undergraduates and postgraduates) will be uniquely involved in research and innovation implementation so they can acquire skills to enable them play leadership roles as problem solvers and make the desired impact in their future careers. The identification of areas of opportunities for the deployment of adaptable knowledge from the global knowledge stock through local and international partnerships based on equity and co-ownership paradigms will be explored
